Let’s Get to Know Each Other.
For the last decade I have been working in media, I’ve found a way to turn my personal cultural fixations into the kind of content that readers want to engage with. Whether it’s a deep dive into the world of televised drag, a reported story about making the soundtrack for an original Broadway show, an examination of the psychology of online fandoms, or a cover story on a major recording artist, my work always starts from a place of genuine curiosity.
Sometimes, the rabbit holes get a little weird — I once spent a month becoming a full-blown conspiracy theorist on TikTok about Taylor Swift and the number 13 — but I always aim to entertain and inform.
My name’s Stephen, I’m an Entertainment journalist.
I served as a staff writer and editor at Billboard for eight years, where I specialized in creating a dedicated space on the brand’s site for LGBTQ+ music fans. For eight years, I worked alongside an incredibly talented editorial team to create content that spoke to the music industry’s evolving relationship with the queer community; I interviewed music legends like Lady Gaga, Madonna, Queen, Cyndi Lauper, and Kylie Minogue; I helped break stories about the rise of stars like Chappell Roan, Lil Nas X, Troye Sivan, and MUNA; I highlighted the work of extremely talented industry professionals working behind the scenes to make the music industry more equitable and diverse.
I’ve worked in print, digital, social video, multimedia production, podcasting, and much more. When I don’t know how to do something, I’m good at figuring it out. More than all else, I am always eager to learn.
